When are infants overcapacity allowed in a reservation?
An infant is considered a child younger than 2 years old and If your property allows children, all booking channels, except VRBO , will automatically allow at least one infant over capacity. Below is a quick guide to the policies of different channels:
Airbnb:
- Infants are children under 2 years old; children are 2-12 years old.
- Infants stay for free if children are allowed at the property.
- Children (2-12) are priced the same as adults.
- Guests can bring up to 5 infants over maximum capacity.
Booking.com:
- Guests can bring 1 infant (under 2 years old) over capacity.
Holidu:
- Infants under 2 years old stay for free; everyone else counts as an adult.
- There are no restrictions on the number of infants allowed over maximum capacity.
VRBO:
- Infants and children count as adults
Important Notes:
- This setting cannot be changed, as these policies are part of the terms and conditions you agreed to when listing your property.
- It is not possible to modify or add restrictions to your property’s description regarding infant overcapacity.
- If you do not want infants exceeding capacity, the only solution is to set your property to "children not allowed" in your amenities settings. To do this: Go to Configuration on the top-left side > Navigate to ‘Amenities’ > Navigate to ‘Children’ > Select “Children Not Allowed’.
- If you choose to cancel a booking because of an infant exceeding capacity, this will be considered a host cancellation, and you may face penalties from the booking channel.
We hope you find this guide helpful and straightforward. Thank you for being a valued host.
